Bimetallic Barrel Screw

Bimetallic Barrel Screw production in China is later than European countries, EJS factory has been producing bimetallic screw barrel since 2000s.

Bimetallic Barrel Screw cost about 1.5 to 2 times more than nitriding but their life increases 2 to 3 times. Therefore more and more customers choose to use bimetallic screw barrel these years to reduce the cost and handling work.

Usually nitriding steels are used to produce bimetallic screw, such as 38CrMoAlA, 34CrAlNi7, 31CrMoV9.

For bimetallic barrels, we use 40Cr as the base steel which has a good fit with alloy powder.

The production of bimetallic screw barrel from EJS is made at our own plant, when most others have to use subcontractor for help, this is better for quality control and the lead-time management.

The production lead-time of Bimetallic Barrel Screw is usually one week longer than nitriding treatment, if the bimetallic process is well done. Sometimes a crack might happen to the bimetallic screw barrel, EJS experienced technicians have good knowledge to make good and fast decision to use it or reject it. It takes more time for bimetallic barrel to see how good it will turn out, because we can only know the quality during production once the carbide liner is tightly shrinked in. If a crack or splitting occurs, the whole carbide liner has to be thrown away and new carbide liner has to be made.

Quality Inspection

Quality is a very important step during production. For making a quality screw barrel, all tolerances should be fulfilled and all dimensions should be correct and put in records.

We provide inspection report, material certificate for every of our supplied screw barrels.

Packaging

Packaging is the last but very important step before shipping. A strong and smart packing box is also part of our quality. It is not only used to protect the screws barrels well during transportation, also provide an easy way for our customer to unpack.
