Question: What is the difference between injection blow Moulding and extrusion blow Moulding?

Answer:

There are mainly 5 differences between injection blow moulding and extrusion blow moulding:

1) The type of product produced by injection blow mould and extrusion blow moulding is different. The extrusion blow Moulding process creates a two-dimensional product while the injection blow Moulding process creates a three-dimensional product as the final output.

2) They use different tool in both the processes. For extrusion blow moulding machine, a die is used to get the final output while injection blow moulding uses a mold.

3) The time needed to produce the final output is different. The extrusion Moulding process is slower whereas the Injection Moulding process is faster.

4) The thickness of final product is different. In case of extrusion, the part thickness depends on how much the material can be stretched during the process whereas, in case of intrusion, it depends upon the relationship between the core and the mold.

5) The processes are different. With the extrusion blow moulding machine, the scrap is with flash and trimming while the scrap is without flash and trimming for injection blow moulding.
